Mobile Journalism

Mobile journalism is an emerging form of new media storytelling where reporters use portable electronic devices to gather, edit and distribute news. Traditional newsrooms are changing as technology rapidly evolves. Mobile journalism allows reporters to produce high-quality footage with their smartphones in real-time.

Here are a few samples of my mobile journalism work. Every news package was shot and edited on my iPhone. I also wrote web stories to go along with most of the mobile packages. I am a huge fan of producing work with mobile devices – less noticeable and invasive, quick, fun and easy! If you don’t have a steady hand, investing in a Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer might be helpful. These news packages were shot with and without the use of a stabilizer – it is really a personal preference. However, the stabilizers are incredible. You can run with your smartphone and your shot will remain steady.
